NO DIESEL ENGINEThe operation of internal combustion engines results in the emission of hydrocarbons (carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter).
Removing all the diesel engines from the standard transport refrigeration unit (TRU) would result in about
1,280,000,000 pounds per year less emissions (U.S.)
A pure ELECTRIC unit, 220 volt AC 3 phase, is powered from the tractor while on the road. At idle, the tractor runs more efficiently due to the added load, resulting in a cleaner exhaust. When at a distribution point, the unit is plugged into an existing electrical outlet. Because the unit doesn't have a diesel engine, it isn't effected by California Air Resource Board (CARB) regulations. And, it won't be in violation of future federal regulations. The generator section of the unit is powered hydraulically from the engine which supplies a constant 12 Kw of 220 Volts three phase power at all engine speeds including idle. The generator, with normal usage, has an expected life of about 10 years. When combined with dependable and proven hydraulics, it will last many years without any real maintenance. In addition, it will only take a few hours to switch the complete system to a new truck.

Electric Powered for Trailers
These "Green" units are electric powered. By using the on-board electric operation, you will be contributing to a considerable environmental savings in carbon emissions. The main tractor engine will emit much less carbon than a smaller industrial engine running at high speed. The standard unit is equipped with heating options for those that need to protect a product from freezing. This revolutionary unit can also be equipped with a "Smart Start" system to further save on energy.At 0 degrees F. box temperture, 82 degrees condensing (180 psig), the system has a compressor capacity of 59,000 Btu's using only 8.64 kw. The maximum required power from the tractor engine will be just 17 horsepower. Under normal operating conditions, the horsepower will come from excess power already being developed by the engine.
